Important stuff for registration
1. What do I need to register a team?
Actually, you do not need much more than one, two or three team members, a couple of floating objects and a fine amount of adventure lust! You can register for Floßrennen starting from the 8th of May 2017 and after you have created your own profile on our homepage we will send you a e-Mail with all essential information and the required next steps.
2. When is the deadline for registration?
You can register until the 8th of July 2017.
3. Why is there an „Einverständniserklärung“?
Bevor you can go rafting in the rapid white waters of the Spree river, you will have to sign an Einverständniserklärung at the starting line of the race. By signing this sheet you agree with the fact that you are responsible for yourself during the Floßrennen and participate at your own risk. We do not want to and cannot be responsible for any damage or accidents during the race.
4. Why do I have to pay an participation fee of 15 €?
The participation fee is needed,to vover the random costs generated during and before the Floßrennen. For example event sites and transporters have to be rented, material for the route signs bought, trophies designed and so on. The money which is not spent during the planing and organisation process will of course be donated tot he non governmental organization Viva con Agua. The payment of the participation fee will not only grant you a place in the race, it will guarantee free access to the official after party in the Chekov Club, the use oft he raft transport sevice and not to forget a strong high five at the finishing line is also included!
1. When will Floßrennen 2016 happen?
15th of July 2017.
2. What route will we be rafting?
Floßrennen will start near a town callde Neuhausen an der Spree, about 10 km south of Cottbus. From there we take race downstream until the peer and beach of the Strombad in Cottbus. You can take a look at the exact route here.
3. How often do I have to lift my raft out of the water and transport it on land?
On total you will have to exit the waters five times. Four times to avoid a dam or rapids and one time for a longer distance of about 400m on land. Experiences from Floßrennen 2016 imply that building the raft as light as possible or with a clever land transport mechanism saves you a lot of time, nerves and sweat – so be creative, intelligent and experimental! You can take a precise look at the exit points and on-land ways, these are marked green on our race route.
4. How can I win the race?
We will have three categories, which will play a role in the overall ranking:
1. The time needed to conquer the route
2. The creativity and style of the raft
3. The willingness of gathering some Spree trash during the race.
Of course, the most crucial factor effecting the ranking is race time and the quickest team to cross the finishing line will have a good head start into the overall ranking. Due to the fact that the Spree is pretty thin at a couple of places and we want to avoid commotion and stress at the exit points, the teams will start in groups of three every fifteen minutes. We will record the time of every team from the start until the end and the total time will determine the winning team in this category!
Additionally, there will be a raft-style voting at the starting line before the rafts start raving. Audience and the participating teams will have the possibility of voting for the most creative and interesting raft and the winners of this category will earn extra points for their team.
Every team will also receive a plastic bag at the beginning of the race, which, if used for collecting garbage on the way and cleaning the Spree, will grant you additional points for your final score.
5. Where can I find the rules of Floßrennen?
You can find the rules for the race here.
6. What do I have to consider while building my raft?
You can find the guidelines for the raft building process here.
7. How will I get my beautiful raft to the starting point of the race in Neuhausen?
There is a possibility of getting your rafts transported to the starting line by our transport service. To take advantage of this, the rafts will be gathered and picked up on the BTU Campus on the 14th of July in the afternoon. For your own transport, it is recommended to use the regional train from Cottbus to Neuhausen and then walking 500 meters by foot, since there are limited parking possibilities on site.
